	774.	Flowers in Vase, original oil painting by Tan Xue Sheng (1993) A Still life of flowers by Tan is a rarity, in itself. This was painted shortly after he and his wife moved from China to America, so it is especially meaningful. Moreover, it shows the more impressionistic palette that Tan began to use later in his career, perhaps, feeling more free, once he had left China.	$17,500		52.2x38cm

		Beneath the Surface of Guo Jiagou Village, original mixed media by Zhang Zhen Jiang (2010) Loess, fine yellow-brown soil, carried by the winds from Central Asia and deposited over China, provided a basis for early productive farming, in China. The Loess Plateau, also know as the Huangtu Plateau, is located in Northern China, covering most of Shanxi and Shaanxi Provence, as well as part of Gansu and Inner Mongolia. Dark blue sky, bright orange clay. A brush of Chinese Red was bright and shining! The truly discerning eye penetrates the heavy yellow-brown loess earth that blankets the land, and glimpses the mysterious heart of the power of this Divine Land! 		Farming Season, original oil painting by Zhang Ai Min (Dapu), 2012 Dapu (Zhang Ai Min) moved to the Tibetan plateau, so, that he could chronicle the sweeping beauty of the area and the simple lifestyles of its inhabitants. Indeed, many Chinese artists have gone to Tibet and the Western areas of China because they feel that the the people there represent a purity and unaffectedness that cannot be found in the rest of China. As we have seen in numerous of Dapu's Tibetan farming scenes, there are no tractors or motorized vehicles for ploughing but only horse or oxen. 	635.	Pomegranate, oil painting on canvas by Li Jin Ming (2009) 石榴布面油画 In Guangdong, the pomegranate symbolizes many sons and grandsons, as it contains many seeds. Li says he likes the color of the fruit, and he used special brushwork and extra colors to make the painting come to life. It reminds me of a still life of pomegranates done by his mentor, Xu Jian Bai, many years ago, but I actually like Jin Ming's better. 	724.	The Fortress, original oil painting on canvas by Xu Zhao Qian (2008) Tibet is famous for its fortresses and monasteries. When you are isolated, in the high Himalayas, you have to protect yourself and be a self-sufficient world unto yourself. This is one of a series of paintings that Xu painted in Tibet, a few years back. In them, he uses the more abstract approach that he has come to prefer, although he complains that the local buyers have difficulty understanding anything but clear, precise painting. In this scene is shown a fortress with the typical prayer flags flying in the wind. Two monks are seen passing by: one walking and one on horseback; the mountains rising in the background. The colors are bright and wonderful in this typical scene from modern Tibet. 	802.	Onlookers, original drawing on paper by Tang Hai Guo Take responsibility? That's not the Chinese way. Instead everyone will stand around pointing fingers, and no one will offer sympathy, charity, or a helping hand. They're just all onlookers, acting like they are outside of it.
